          For many of us, this time of social isolation has been an opportunity to reflect on what's important. 

Perhaps you're rekindled a self-care practice. 

Perhaps you've caught up on books you've been meaning to read for years.

Maybe you are working full time?

And for some of us, it has also been a time of unsettling change and new responsibilities.

  • Homeschooling

  • Preparing 3 meals a day... every day.

  • Living 24/7 with people you love... but sometimes crave space from .

  • Couriering groceries to elderly parents

  • Being a loving ear for friends not faring as well as you may be.

  • Too many hours sitting leaving you with those aching tight hips.

  • All of these things can leave us feeling depleted, and in need of relief, despite having more time at home.

Spend a nourishing afternoon with me and other yoga students craving time for practice and contemplation. 

 

Join us on Saturday May 23rd, 2020. 2:30-5pm

We will gather for 2.5 hours in my 'virtual studio', and all you'll need is your laptop or tablet, a journal/paper, pen, a couple of comfy cushions, 2 blocks or books you can stack and blanket or two.  You might like to light candles or aromatherapy oils and have an eye mask for the Yoga Nidra portion of class.

At the beginning of our practice you will have time to set your Sankalpa.   A Sankalpa is an intention. An intention is a guiding principle for how you want to be, live, and show up in the world—during yoga, or meditation or any area of your life. I encourage you to use this time of practice for this.  I will make time for you to write down any thoughts that come up for you during your practice.

Here is our supportive and flowing agenda for our Retreat:

  • An indulgent 45 minute Yin Yoga practice:

    Long, slow holds in supported yoga postures, allowing you to release deeply held tension in particularly tight areas such as the hamstrings, glutes, spine, hips and shoulders. A wonderful opportunity to create physical and mental space and relieve symptoms of stress and anxiety, while at the same time increasing range of movement in the deeper tissues of the body. Especially effective for those with tight muscles/restricted mobility.

  • 10-15 minutes for quiet journaling.

  • An active 30 minute Yang Yoga practice:  Here we will hold poses for strength, stability and balance. As we move from pose to pose we will require focus and effort as we build heat in our body.

  • 30 minute Yoga Nidra guided meditation:

    Experience the restorative and deeply healing practice of Yoga Nidra. Translated from the Sanskrit, Yoga Nidra means ‘yogic sleep’. This ancient practice involves simple visualisation techniques to navigate between sleeping and waking states of consciousness. Benefits can include improved sleep and relief from physical and mental tension.

    There have been numerous clinical studies made which suggest that Yoga Nidra can be a very successful therapeutic practice for those suffering from insomnia, PTSD, stress and anxiety.

  • 10-15 minutes for quiet journaling.

  • Closing

All ages and levels of ability welcome, no yoga experience required.
